I took this video right after Katrina gave birth. At the beginning of it Aliyah is about 5 minutes old!

Baby pictures

We were discharged from the hospital yesterday.  Mama and baby are great!  The first couple nights were real rough, but we’re off to a good start tonight.  Aliyah and I had our first music listening session today.  We listened to Mvt. III of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 29 in B-flat Major (Hammerklavier).  I don’t know how well she paid attention since she was a limp noodle in my arms, but it was special nonetheless.

I’m sorry for the disjointed thoughts, lack of sleep does affect clarity of the mind!

In any case go to the photo gallery on the right for pictures from the hospital!

She’s here!

Hi everyone! Just a quick note to let you know how we’re doing.

At 11:30am yesterday (May 24) Katrina checked herself into the hospital, I joined her a short while later… and at 4:38pm we had a baby girl! Her name is Aliyah Helen Smith. (AH-lee-yah) She is beautiful! 7 lbs. 10 oz. and 19.5 inches long. Shes very healthy and pink! Lots of brown hair and chubby cheeks. There were no complications at all. Mommy and baby are still recovering at the hospital and we expect to be home tomorrow.

In the next few days I’ll get pics and more details up so stay tuned.

Thank you for all of your prayer and support and well-wishes! I’m sorry we haven’t had time to respond to phone calls and emails, we will soon.

Spicy Food remedy?

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:18 pm by Katrina

Hi All~

Yet another entry with not much progress to announce.  Today was Jonathan’s day off, so we went and had the spiciest Bermese dish to try and jump start the process!  We had a great time and enjoyed being out in the city together on such a beautiful day. There are so many other “inducing” methods that we have heard–we’re trying them all!
This Friday is our due date AND another appointment.  If we make it to this appointment without a hospital trip beforehand, we are packing our bags and bringing them with us–just in case we are admitted that morning!  I am walking around 4 cm dialated since last week, so this week has got to be 5 cm right?

Sorry to keep you waiting, but it’s not my fault!!  Love to you all~Thanks for your support.

Umm…any day

Still waiting. Miss Smith hurried to put on the contractions earlier this month and now is taking her time chosing her birthday. I am increasingly uncomfortable (probably like most women are throughout their pregnancy!) and having difficulty in sleeping. We’ve had a few times when I thought we might have to go in to the hospital but to no avail–sorry to worry you all.

Her official due date is May 26th. One week from today. There are bets on dates and names. Anyone else in?

Fully Cooked by now

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:21 pm by Katrina

So this week (week 37), our baby is considered full term and should be healthy if she was born from this week on!  My belly button is out permanently…so she must be thoroughly done by now!

It’s been an interesting week.  Monday I had a bought of false labor or really regular Braxton Hicks contractions–I think it was brought on by a Starbucks Green Tea Frappachino.  (Too much caffeine!!)

Doctor appointments are going well.  Last week, I was 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced.  Today, 2 cm dialated and 70% effaced.  She seemed to think that baby has progressed well, although she was faced up instead of face down like she should be for labor.  She still has time for that.

Friends and family have been taking polls about when she’ll make her grand entrance!  I’ve heard everything from 3 days from now to first week of June!  I don’t think there’s any money to be won…yet!

There are several things that you can be praying for: healthy baby, getting our favorite doctor for the delivery, strength, safe trip for my mom as she frantically makes her way out here, and that Jonathan wouldn’t faint in the room!

Love
