After writing this post the other night, we had more spit-up fun. I am sure that you parents have experienced this, but this morning there was so much in my hair that I could hear it dripping on the carpet behind me. Only a few moments later it was snot out the nose all over her face and my hand. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry…so I smiled and wiped myself off and smelled like baby till my shower.
I do love being a mom!

So we have been parents for four months. This is what we have learned:
Jonathan says that it’s hard to make a PBJ sandwich holding a baby; the peanut butter doesn’t spread from the knife!
Dinner is decided not on what food we have, but rather what pots are clean. (Hmmmm….the crockpot hasn’t been used since last fall. I think it’s a caserole night.)
Spit-up has a life all of its own and goes exactly where you do not want it. Magazines, clean work shirts, futons and chairs…etc. Does anyone want to visit now??
Poo does not smell the same everytime. Just because we don’t recognize it as “Aliyah’s fragrance” does not mean that we can blame another person sitting next to us on the metro.
Update:
We went to our first crab feed and barbeque with Aliyah at Catholic University. It was put on by the graduate student association and free to it’s students! Pulled pork, bbq chicken, corn, beer and Maryland crabs encrusted with Old Bay. We actually didn’t even eat much crab. The rest of the food was so good and the tiny MD crabs are so much work.
Inscape Chamber Project is playing another great concert the first weekend in October. I am playing on a piece with small ensemble and narrator by William Walton. Check it out: http://www.inscapechambermusicproject.org/
My mom will be out again for the concert as well! We are excited about her coming to see Aliyah alert and so happily responsive!

Hi all!
Just a quick post about the cute things that our baby is doing at three and a half months old.
Aliyah loves to talk. Yammer yammer yammer. So cute. We have many good conversations.
She has discovered her feet! She grabs them with her hands and claps them together…and to Jonathan’s chagrin, (Mommy’s delight) she grabs toys with them.
She now thinks that she could do somethings to help her parents out. She has begun to go to sleep by herself, with some help relaxing. Feedings have gone to two and a half hours apart (with the goal of a three hour stretch by the end of the month).
The cutest thing, tho has been the giggle. We discovered that she loves sound effects–a musician in the making! When she can anticipate the sound she just is so excited that she can hardly do anything but smile, crinkle that nose and giggle. Melts our heart.
New photos will be up shortly. Videos are slow in coming…a goal of ours nonetheless.
