Our second date!
Jonathan & I enjoyed our second date for my birthday this weekend. We dropped Aliyah off with friends (very patient friends–Aliyah is starting to experience separation anxiety) and Jonathan took me to a fabulous wine bar in Ellicott City. They have an incredible brie, pineapple, honey and almond plate. It was wonderful to get dressed up and get out with my husband–oh yeah, he’s not just Aliyah’s daddy! We laughed a lot and even talked about life outside of babydom.
Jonathan is a great man. He knows how important it is to pamper me every so often! My birthday present from him was to get my hair cut and colored! It feels wonderful to go back to a stylish cut. Now Aliyah has less to grab and spit up on!
Aliyah is a proud and possibly vain lady/child! She is starting to sit up by herself and loves to watch herself in the mirror. She is laughing and just loving life. We started solid foods–sweet potatoes last week and carrots this week. She flaps and hmmmms excitedly between each bite. It’s a beautiful mess. I’ve learned that you never put a baby in a new outfit before you feed them. Mashed food (like poo) has a wonderful antigravitational quality that defies any bib!
We can’t wait to see a few of you in California. Have a great Thanksgiving!

Hi Katrina,
I have a birthday card for you, too! It never quite made it into the mail, either.
I’m so glad you had a happy birthday!!!!
Much love to you and your family
