A few weeks ago we had Aliyah dedicated at our church in DC. Two other families that we love–the Stewarts and Greers–also went through the ceremony. It was a touching ceremony celebrating our desire to trust God and raise Aliyah according His teachings. It wasn’t a baptism (despite the white dress!) she can decide to take that step when she is older.

Aliyah nearly made me tear up though! As the pastor was talking and praying all she did was try to get to the gift bible that Pastor Mark brought up to the podium. She kept signing and asking for us to read it until we finally let her have it. She proudly sat down in the middle of the floor and began reading! It was a very special night to be with Kari, Danny, Alicia and Kori and baby Millie and baby Lucy!

It’s that time of year again! When the television is on every Sunday afternoon. All around the country, wives loose their husbands who are enthralled with the game… oh wait. With our family, it’s the wives that are glued to the television watching football!
Although Aliyah has only watched 5 minutes of football on tv a few months ago, she still looks cute in her cheerleader outfit. (Yes, she goes to the games only to look cute…like many Fresno State fans!)

We are excited about Aliyah’s Forty Niner outfit–no matter how they are playing! We also found a kindred spirit Forty Niner Fan in our group of friends! Caed is also a fan in his custom jersey with his Daddy’s name on it.

Yesterday Aliyah cracked me up with a few new additions to her vocabulary. I asked her what cats say and she carefully said
“eeMow!”
So maybe it’s not the perfect “Meow”, but it was cute! Later that afternoon she saw a picture of a monkey and started making funny sounds and acting like she was scratching her armpits and tickling her belly. I didn’t catch on to what she was doing till she attacked me and starting tickling MY armpits. Wish I had got it on video!

Aliyah now has (barely) enough hair to pull back into a ponytail!

Sept 2 stats: the new world in her vocabulary is bubble. She is a tiny 21.4 pounds and 24.9 inches. She is nearly running and loves being on daddy’s shoulders. We are very fortunate that she eats like crazy. She loves broccoli, green beans, bananas, and strawberries. We are hoping that she keeps eating well long into toddlerhood!
We did have an interesting illness this week. She spiked a fever (102) after her 15 month old shots. I thought that it was related to the boosters, so we just gave her Tylenol and got her to bed. The next afternoon, she didn’t have the fever, but she had a really bad pimply rash all over her belly and some on her arms, legs and back. The doctor wanted to see her since she didn’t think that the specific boosters that Aliyah got normally created a rash like chicken pox. After seeing her she said that Aliyah had Roseola. Aliyah had a very mild case of it, but I thought that you all should know about the virus anyways.
Here is the mayo clinic website on it. Besides the fever, she didn’t show any signs of discomfort or crankiness and was not contagious after the fever broke.
We are enjoying our Labor Day weekend celebrating a wedding shower and going to toddler parks. We miss family parties like Aunt Cindy’s big beach bash in Santa Cruz–despite our distance, we love you all and miss you tons.
