“Can you tell me when I was a wittle baby?”

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:59 am by Katrina

Aliyah has a new conversation starter.  For the past three days or so Jonathan and I have heard “Can you tell me when I was a wittle baby?” many many times.  We’ve had fun remembering stories–it’s hilarious to see what she thinks is silly.  Jonathan is particularly good at telling her one that makes her laugh.

Jonathan:  “when you were a little baby, you didn’t sit forward in your carseat.  You sat backwards!!”

Aliyah:  (laughing)  “That’s SIWWY!”

pause of 2 seconds.

A: “Can you tell me when I was a wittle baby?”

J:  (sighs and tries to remember another silly story)

pause of 1 second.

A: “Can you tell me when I was a wittle baby?”

J:  “Aliyah, I am thinking.”  After all, this was the fifth story in a row.  “When you were a little baby we had a swing for you INSIDE the house!”

A:  (Sounds of amazement)  “Whhhoooowww”

pause of 2 seconds

A:  (very excitedly) “Can you tell me when I was a wittle baby?”

J:  “Let’s save a few more stories for later.”

So beware world.  If you are going to see Aliyah in the next few weeks, be prepared.

Third Christmas!  This one was happily in Merced with my family.

We also were able to visit my Aunt Cindy  and Uncle Bert’s cabin in Me-Wuk, CA.  It was wonderful to see with family (even tho we missed other members!)

Christmas meant quite a bit to Aliyah this year.  She loved talking about the nativity and reading all sorts of books.  We made sure that Aliyah also picked out and gave several gifts.  Of course, she loved opening presents.  She got TWO marble sets!

Aliyah also was given a glider from Grandma & Grandpa!  It was assembled indoors, but we’ll see if it stays there!  Grandpa covered it with dozens of blankets to make it a tent!  Grandma and Aliyah spent hours reading and talking inside their new retreat.

Merry Christmas with the Smiths!

We’ve had so much fun enjoying the season in DC and with family in California.

Jonathan was such a thoughtful daddy and purchased many of Aliyah’s gifts.  She LOVED the baby and baby carriage.

We also had a great family singalong with the Smiths! We played all of the standards.  I thought about doing a mock program but didn’t get that far–this is the list of musicians:

Katrina Smith, flute

Jonathan Smith, bass

George Smith, piano

Maria Smith, drums, vocals

Melissa Smith, vocals

Jessica Dunn, vocals,

Aliyah Smith, piano, drums, recorder, harmonica, maracas

Audio/Video effects:  Jared Dunn

Thanks to George Smith for arrangements.  We’ll have to make this an annual tradition.
